Let the Bands Play, Let the Horses Neigh! We're Behind the Gates at St. Vincent's Academy
We're "behind the gates" and on-location at St. Vincent's Academy at the iconic corner of Abercorn and Liberty Streets in historic Savannah, Georgia.
St. Vincent's was founded on June 23, 1845, when Father Jeremiah Francis O'Neill brought six Sisters of Our Lady of Mercy from Charleston, South Carolina. We're seated in the parlor amidst priceless artifacts, works of art, and whispers from the past - and grateful to be joined by Sister Paula Cockerham, Loretto Lomanack - the school's Director of Alumni & Archivist, and Diane Parker - the chair of the annual Nun Run.
Thanks to the eloquent storytelling of these fine women, we are transported back to a time when the son and daughter of Jefferson Davis - as well as the renowned writer Mary Flannery O'Connor - were students at St. Vincent's.
